Professor Sinclair of University of Birmingham visited the Center for Economic Research from April 24, 2012 to April 25, 2012. The assistant Dean of the Center for Economic Research, Professor Kainan Huang hosted the symposium. Dr. Lixin Sun and Dr. Tao Sun also attended the symposium.
The major purpose of the Symposium is to consolidate the academic exchange and cooperation between our Center and the School of Economics at University of Birmingham. Professor Sinclair firstly summarized many similarities between University of Birmingham and Shandong University. And then, he introduced features of research at University of Birmingham, School of Economics. Professor Huang made a detailed introduction about our course setting, training model for students, scientific research and so on. Finally, all scholars discussed the development of global macro-economy and put forward their opinions regarding macroeconomics, monetary economics and international economics.
Professor Sinclair attended the “Shandong University Economic Forum” at the Center for Economic Research on April 24, 2012. He gave a presentation called “Recent Issues in World Economy”. Based on the analysis of latest economic data, he mainly explained the economic situation in Europe such as Greece. According to the history, culture and resource endowment of various countries, Professor Sinclair illustrated why the development of current global economy shows a big gap.
